New hardware from BeAM Machines, MKS and box3d

Business deals at SHINING 3D, Nano Dimension and PyroGenesis

Adding yet another string to his bow, former 3D Systems President and CEO Avi Reichental has confirmed a new position as co-chairman of Nano Dimension. Reichentalfirst joined the company’s board of directors2017年4月,担任主席a number of other 3D printing companies/initiativesincluding Nexa3D and技术.

A recent case study from Prodways reveals thatRenaissances Servicesin Fairborn, Ohio, relies on a ProMaker L5000 in its 3D printing division. The aerospace and defense engineering solutions specialist uses Prodways Technologies’ industrial DLP system to make castings for components, including “legacy” gearboxes and housings for out-of-production military equipment.

SHINING 3D has officially entered into software distribution partnership withMesh2Surface, and Robert McNeel & Associates, makers of theRhinoceros(Rhino) CAD platform. In another recent story, SHINING 3D has also worked with Zhejiang University of Technology (ZJUT) using its famed 3D scanning hardware to help make 3D printed racecar parts.

Hertfordshire rapid prototyping manufacturer原型项目is to replace its Viper SLA suite with ProJet SLA 3D printers from 3D Systems. According toJustin Pringle, Prototype Projects Managing Director, the new machines mean that the 35 year-old bureau “can provide increased capacity and shortened lead times” for customers.

Followinga deal with Rolls-Royceearlier in November 2017, powder metallurgy firm PyroGenesis has announced the signing of a second non-disclosure agreement, this time with an anonymous aircraft engine manufacturer.

The future of 3D – as viewed by designers

Speaking at the International Trademark Association (INTA) Berlin 2017 Mette Andersen, corporate counsel for the LEGO Group in Denmark, has hinted that the family-owned toy company may not rule out 3D printing in the future of the brand. Incomments recorded by the World IP Review(WIPR), Anderson is quoted saying “If I overlook the legal implications, some day we may sell official Lego blueprints.”

BMW’s new i8 Roadster has been made with the help of 3D printing. Unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2017, observers noted that connecting components for the roof mechanism were made using additive manufacturing methods. Part of thesame group as Mini劳斯莱斯it comes as no surprise that the group is experimenting with these techniques in its next generation vehicles.
