Markforged appoints board member
Starting this week with the most recent hires, Metal and carbon fiber 3D printer manufacturerMarkforgedhas appointed Carol Meyers to its Board of Directors. Currently a Venture Partner at玻璃翼风险, Meyers will begin her new role as soon as Markforged’s$2.1 billion SPAC mergeris finalized later this summer.

More widely, the facility is also central to Wabtec’s ambitions to simplify the supply chains behind transport-related spares, and it aims to 3D print 25,000 parts by 2025 for internal use. Additionally, its convenient location enables the firm to ship to anywhere in the world within 24 hours, potentially positioning it to help future international clients improve their reliability of supply as well.
“Part of the vision for Neighborhood 91 is to highlight the assets of the region right at the airport so we can build on community strengths,” said Allegheny County Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis. “For Wabtec, a global manufacturing leader, to choose Neighborhood 91 for its advanced manufacturing is a sign that our region has all it needs to be a leader in this space.”
Breakthrough medical factory opens

The firm’s 3D printing process, which is one of the first in Europe to gain ISO-13485 certification for both design and manufacturing, is reportedly capable of producing scaffolds with features down to a size of just 150 µm. For its part, Fraunhofer IZI has been responsible for ensuring the complex’s quality assurance and quality control compliance, and it has now transferred the relevant documentation to BellaSeno.
“We are delighted to have established a truly unique additive manufacturing facility together with Fraunhofer IZI,” said Mohit Chhaya, CEO of BellaSeno. “This will not only ensure leading-edge manufacturing of our own products, but also enables us to provide contract manufacturing of resorbable medical implants for a wide range of applications.”
ARBURG establishes Shanghai hub

What’s more, while the APC has initially been established to target Chinese clientele, the firm has also left the door open to further Asian expansion, and it intends to continue hiring in the region moving forwards.
“In Asia, we are experiencing growing demand for our Freeformer machines in applications that involve the AM of functional components made from original materials”, says Gerhard Böhm, MD of Sales and Services at Arburg. “The new APC in Shanghai is enabling us to expand our AM expertise strategically and respond specifically to the local needs of the Chinese market.”
“Our ARBURG China team now has a faster, more focused and highly practical way of helping potential freeformer customers meet their requirements.”
Airbus opens £40M UK Test Center

Opened by the UK’s secretary of state for business, energy and industrial strategy, Kwasi Kwarteng, the Aerospace Integrated Research and Test Centre (AIRTeC) has been jointly funded as part of the British government’s widerATI program。
With more than 10,000m2of gross internal floor space, the complex has specifically been built to host the structural testing of large-scale aircraft assemblies, including full wings as well as parts and related materials, by researchers from universities in addition to commercial partners, such as those operating in the maritime and nuclear sectors.
